Our classic 80s ranch home has a great footprint and charming details but needed serious updates. Andrew Henson was hired as a real estate/remodel consultant to provide extensive expertise on what turned out to be a complicated remodel project - as so many of them do. The scope of the project included reworking decades-old construction decisions to accommodate modern standards and design tastes, including but not limited to: updating outdated storage solutions; reworking electrical, plumbing, and HVAC to go along with the upgrades; selecting and finishing out the project with updated materials; advice on timelines, setting expectations, budgets, industry lingo, and project efficiency. Andrew saved our project budget significantly by helping us decide what portions needed professionals (electrical, for example) and what projects could be DIY. He provided contacts in several fields we were able to interview and hire to complete those portions of the remodel. Additionally, Andrew provided foresight on the cost of materials, the market trends, average costs of various professionals' services, etc. which allowed us to make decisions for the house that would benefit us and the resale value. Our overall vision for the remodel started out vague, with a general idea of what we wanted to accomplish and how we wanted it to look. However, there are so many details and decisions that go into remodeling an older home, and Andrew was able to provide extensive guidance to make it a reality. Decision-fatigue can plague even the saviest homeowner, and Andrew's role in the project reduced that significantly.
